This exclusive experience of 10 days and 9 nights is designed for people who are passionate about the high mountains, which will allow you to learn more about the customs and ancestral rites of the indigenous Kogui communities that inhabited the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta. Discover the knowledge of environmental conservation and natural wealth that this paradisiac place has, through the millenary communities that consider this mountain the center of the planet.

 

Every day we will walk approximately between 5 to 8 hours a day until we reach the base camps, we will begin our journey through trails of tropical forests, humid forests until we reach the moors and we will culminate in the snowy peaks. You must be prepared for this experience that has a high degree of difficulty, which will require good physique. It also requires you to get into the culture and be willing to sleep in hammocks or sleeping bag, eat the typical fruits of the region, and explore the beautiful waterfalls and rivers that are crossed.

Tourists will be collected where they are staying in the vehicles heading to the village of Palmor, in the municipality of Ciénaga with a duration of approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.

 

At 8.30 am. We will arrive at the Coffee Capital of the Colombian Caribbean, so that they can taste the typical breakfast of the region, then we return to the vehicles to get ready to travel, we will pass through a path called La Bodega Betel, near there we will find the first Kogui field where we we will stay the first night.

We have breakfast and start the trip along the mountainous road that lasts approximately 5 hours, the luggage will be carried on mules until we reach the second base camp called “PLAYA RICA”, this place has an approximate height of 2,000 meters above sea level . (Lunch will be practical). Here we will spend the second night camping, with its respective dinner.

At the end of breakfast we start our journey until we reach the third base camp which is the “SUJY O VENADO LAGOON”. It is a strong route because we will pass through sloping paths, with a duration of approximately 8 hours and with a height of 3,400 meters above sea level. Approximate, here we will rest in camping.

 

Note: From day 3 we will use porters: From now on the luggage will not be carried on the mules because the terrain is very difficult to access for the animals, so it is necessary to use people who carry the luggage of each client.

As every day after having breakfast, we start the walk to the “LAGOON DUMENA”, it lasts for approximately 6 hours with a height of 3.650 meters above sea level. On average, they will spend the night camping here.

The walk begins after having breakfast, towards the last base camp called “EL GRINGO” which lasts approximately 4 hours, its height is 4.800 meters above sea level. In this place you will be able to observe the snow-capped mountain from very close and it is the strategic place to take the photos; Here they will rest and sleep camping.

The descent from the base camp “EL GRINGO” to “LAGOON DUMENA” begins, it lasts from 5 to 6 hours approximately.

We will begin to return from the “LAGOON DUMENA” to “PLAYA RICA”, it lasts from 6 to 7 hours approximately.

We will return from the “LAGOON PLAYA RICA” to the ” VILLAGE KOGUI”, it has a duration of 3 hours until we reach the point where the vehicles are located that will take us back to the starting point of the tour.
