A tour where you can get to know some of the places, buildings and characters that served as inputs and sources of inspiration for “Gabo” to write his masterpiece One Hundred Years of Solitude, on a journey from the magical city of Ciénaga to the Macondian town of Aracataca.
THE REAL THING OF A HUNDRED YEARS OF SOLITUDE
The tour begins at 7:00 am, a 4×4 car will pick us up at the agreed place in Ciénaga Magdalena and immediately we will move to the San Miguel Cemetery or as it is well called Cementerio de los Ricos in the northern part of the city, where We will visit the tomb of “Remedios La Bella”, then we will arrive at the old train station where the “Massacre of the Bananeras” began, from there we will take the path where the railway used to pass and we will begin a tour of the road next to all the lane in the middle of large banana crops and we will visit some of the sites mentioned by “Gabo” in his masterpiece. We will visit the Hacienda Neerlandia, Rio Frio station, Varela station, Ori Hueca station, the complex where the gringos lived, the real Macondo (a small town next to the Seville river), Guamachito and Tucurinca, before arriving at Aracataca cradle Nobel Prize winner Gabriel García Márquez, we will have lunch at Leo Matiz’s house. At the end of lunch we will do a City Tour accompanied by a local guide, who will take us to see the house museum, the telegraph operator’s house, the railway station, the linear park, the median where the macondo tree is, among other places. After the City Tour, we will return to Ciénaga, but this time we will do it by the trunk and we will stop for a few minutes at the Rio Frio spa, to enjoy a refreshing bath if you wish. We will arrive in the city at approximately 5:00 pm.
